RFP #7

Support Innovative Research that Advances Spokane as a National Leader in Health Delivery Research - 2011-2014

Purpose: This is an open grant award competition over a period of three years or until renewed. The HSSA will award up to $1,000,000 from 2011 through 2014 in response to this RFP. Individual project budgets may total up to $100,000 per year, for up to three years.

RFP #6

Fund Innovative Research to Expedite Commercialization and Spur Job Growth - 2011-2014

Purpose: This is an open grant award that will be available twice annually. Initial proposals are due Feb. 5, 2012, and second round proposals are due by Aug. 5, 2012, and each year thereafter on those two dates. The HSSA will award up to $4.5 million during the period from 2012 to 2022 in response these RFPs. Individual project budgets may total up to $500,000 over the course of the grant period.

Invest in Human Capital to accelerate Spokane's Health Sciences Research Capacity - 2011-2022

Purpose: This is an open grant award that will be available twice annually. Initial proposals are due by Dec. 5, 2011, and May 5, 2012, and each year thereafter on those two dates. The HSSA will award up to $4.5 million during the period from 2011 to 2022 in response to this request for proposal (RFP). Individual project budgets may total up to $500,000 per year for two years.

Increase Access to Health Care in Spokane County through Innovative and Collaborative Health Service Delivery - 2011

Purpose: The HSSA has announced its fourth request for proposals (RFP) for a 2011 grant competition to increase access to health care in Spokane County through Innovative and Collaborative Health Services Delivery. The HSSA Board will award one or more grants for a total of no more than $200,000 to provide innovative and collaborative health services delivery that increases access to health service in Spokane County. The duration of the grants may be up to two years.

Woodworth Collaborative Health Service Delivery Challenge Grant – 2010

Recipients:

  • Northeast Community Center Association Health Center Expansion

    Purpose: The Northeast Community Center Health Center Expansion will increase access to health and dental services for underserved populations. Half of the 40,000 medically uninsured in Spokane County reside in the zip code served by the NECC. This funding will complement other funding that will result in an increase of from 1,100 monthly patient visits to 3,500 in 15 new examination rooms. The clinics will employ 45 employees, an increase of 21 direct new jobs.
    Award: $75,000
    Time: 1 Year

  • GSI/WSU Medical Education/Outreach Project

    Purpose: Inform, identify and prepare communities, physician practices, clinics, hospitals and other sites, patients and medical students to participate in required clinical rotations for third-year and fourth-year undergraduate medical students and residencies for graduate medical education. This will allow the training of more physicians through expansion of the medical education program headquartered at the Riverpoint Campus in Spokane.
    Award: $75,000
    Time: 1 Year

  • Providence Sacred Heart Foundation HIV/AIDS Clinic

    Purpose: The Providence Sacred Heart Foundation funded the Internal Medicine Residency program's HIV/AIDS Clinic. This grant will allow the increase of staff time and effort to improve the health of 75 HIV/AIDS patients, as well as train physicians in the comprehensive care of HIV/AIDS patients.
    Award: $30,000

RFP #2 (Closed)

Increase Access to Health Services - 2009

Recipient: Project Access
Purpose: Project Access is a network of 800 volunteer physicians, pharmacists, allied healthcare providers, and all hospitals in Spokane County. Prior to Project Access, low income and uninsured people had limited access to health care. Project Access intends to grow access to health care by 15% with this grant and improve other indicators.
Award: $225,000
Time: 1 Year

Increase Infrastructure Capacity for Bioscience Research - 2009

Recipient: Institute for Systems Medicine
Purpose: ISM will create a biospecimen repository and a clinical data repository as part of the needed infrastructure to support the growth of life sciences research in Spokane County.
Award: $675,000
